Bushcraft Barbecued Chicken & Cassava Root

After cleaning the chicken we slaughtered previously at http://chockate.blogspot.com/2013/08/my-first-time-slaughter-chicken.html, the jungle survival skill instructor taught us how to cook our food in the jungle with just bamboo and firewood gathered in the jungle.

We barbecued the skinless chicken with firewood and bamboo stand.
(Our tropical jungle food from left) Barbecued chicken, cassava root and some bananas.

Our firewood...nope it's cassava root is done. The cassava root was slightly burnt like a firewood xD
We scraped the burnt outer layer of the cassava root with knife and ate the inside of the cassava root.

We putted the cassava root "ubi kayu" on top of the firewood...the cassava root almost function as firewood itself after hours of burning with the firewood =P it looks like charcoal
I had forgotten there was a tapioca root near the stack of burning firewood.

I barbecued my bananas as well which i wasn't supposed to.. I just wanted to heat up my banana a little so that it tasted sweeter ^^

At home i ate sugar coated bananas heated in microwave oven for breakfast. In the jungle I tried to heat up my bananas. I was curious how a barbecued banana tasted like on firewood =P

Chicken Ass on Fire! The chicken took ages to be cooked. We made square cuts on the chicken so that the chicken could be cooked evenly.

I barbecued my bananas till they were warm. They tasted not as good as microwaved bananas..the barbecued bananas cooked unevenly on campfire lol..

The chicken took hours to be cooked using firewood. We slitted open the meat to check whether the meat is thoroughly cooked from time to time.

After some hard work our barbecued chicken was thoroughly cooked! ""= =
Took a quarter day to prepare this meat, the instructor gave us kampung chicken the meat has better texture than white chicken.
