Tropical Rainforest Rafflesia Flower Malaysia

Jungle trekking in a tropical rain forest at one of the islands on the Tasik Temenggor Lake. We were seeking the Rafflesia flower, a type of rare species corpse flower in the protected jungle. What we found in the jungle were either not blooming or dead Rafflesia flowers.

A Rafflesia Bud.
The bud of the Rafflesia flower needs 9 months to mature before it could bloom into a Rafflesia flower.

Dead Rafflesia Bud.
This is a dead bud. Not all Rafflesia bud able to mature....The bud is easy to be damaged because it requires 9 months to develop and bloom from a Rafflesia bud to a full bloom Rafflesia flower.

Dead Rafflesia Flower
The Rafflesia Flower took 9 months to develop but bloom from 5 to 6 days only. Short lived. This is a dead flower.
