Cook Instant Cajun Dirty Rice On An Island

October is a rainy season...we were camping and cooking on wet camp ground on the island of the second largest lake in Malaysia the Tasik Temenggor Lake.It had been raining on and off..twice.. since this afternoon when we arrived at the jetty for the boat ride to the island and another raining started before dinner time... fortunately it didn't rain for long

It's pitch dark out there....  and the rain had stopped. I rolled up my hammock with the snakeskin to make space for setting the cooking equipments under my hammock and shelter.

Instant rice boiling in a pot..with so much raining going on, we cooked our dinner for the night with the help of a mini torch light and a portable gas stove beneath the flysheet.

Cooking in the dark....we were having a 7 minutes instant rice the ' Cajun Dirty Rice '  in a pot boiled with water from the murky river near the lake, gathered this afternoon before dark.

Almost 5 minutes..there was a slight burning smell..hehe the flame was too high. We stirring the pot of rice.. o_0 I was so afraid we might burnt the bottom of the pot then we would have no cooking pot for tomorrow's breakfast. We have no common sense in controlling a gas stove, we used electric induction stove at home with auto heat control and a timer on it, rarely used gas stove.

Kept stirring away from the flame....Thankfully it's a non stick nothing burnt.. for the slight burnt stain...the next morning...a light scrub with the sponge and dish liquid at the river, the pot is stainless ready to be used for breakfast. (....escaped nightmare before bed time)

I'm holding a ready to eat hard boiled egg. Brought this to the camp instead of raw eggs so that I had the freedom to throw my bag around in and off the boat without breaking any eggs.

These weird stuff not a typical Malaysia food. They are vacuum packed Taiwan made hard boiled eggs and bean curds marinated in some sort of brown soy sauce...well i don't know..

They looks shinny but not oily at all.. hehe I had some bad experience with the bean curd...it tasted like rubber. I will opt that bean curd out the list on next camping trip...but the egg is acceptable not salty. The egg tasted so..so because it's cold egg i didn't bother to warm any of them. These are convenient camping food , not much to complain = = as long as they are edible I'm fine for few days.

We brought vacuum packed cooked pork in aluminum bag ...another instant, easy and convenient camp food for dinner haha...All we did is warm up the aluminum bag in a pot of hot boiling water and it's done. Most vacuum packed cooked meat we brought are slightly salty. I took oranges from the camping organizer to quench thirst and tingle my taste bud.

End the night with a bowl of rice with pork, egg, bean curd and an orange.

We did the dishes at the river the next morning, it was too dangerous to walk to the river at night the ground is slippery and muddy because of the rain.

We had a small campfire talk in a circle before bed time. I went to sleep earlier than the rest because the camping ground was wet and i saw different people taking turns having leech bites.
