鱼生 yúshēng is a raw fish salad at Great Miner Chinese Cuisine Restaurant in Ipoh
Yu Sheng / Yu Sang is a popular dish during Chinese New Year in Malaysia.
The name of the raw fish salad Yúshēng (鱼生= raw fish) is a homophone for Yúshēng (余升 = increase in abundance). Therefore, it's a tradition to mix and toss the raw fish salad during Chinese New Year reunion feast. It is believed the more and higher you toss, the better your fortune and luck will be.

The plate is nicely decorated with a yellow dragon head and a dragon tail. The raw fish is mixed with crunchy crackers, crushed peanuts, sesame seeds, plum sauce, oil, and a variety of shredded vegetables like radish, carrots etc.. The picture above is before we started the prosperity toss for the new year. The salad is messy after tossing.

Shark fin soup
The fins has a hardened jelly-like stringy, sinewy texture which is tasteless. The soup is a smooth starchy soup cooked with crab meat, shark fins etc... We were given a bowl of vinegar by the waitress. It's optional to mix vinegar into your soup.

There's a river with a nicely decorated bridge and markets along the river opposite the Great Miner Chinese Cuisine Restaurant & Kinta Riverfront Hotel & Suites . After the meal, we went to markets near the river in Riverfront, Ipoh, Perak for shopping. The river has a spectacular view at night but it's a little stinky.
Not recommended to visit the river during the day because all you could see is a plain yellow river during day time.
